Having completed the prayer in Canada for all the capital cities Worldchangers feels that we are to pray in the USA as part of our prayer mandate. The consensus through prayer was to begin on the East Coast with the original founding colonies. New York was chosen as the first place due to its significance as the major port of entry to the United States.
The prayer assignments had to do with not only immigration and liberty but also the various spheres of influence that New York has worldwide. There is business and finance, entertainment and sports.
Before prayer trips like this the team meets to pray a number of times, which then gives us a sense of God’s direction for prayer. We also pray daily while on assignment before we leave our accommodations. This trip was difficult beginning with our flights being cancelled by the airline due to a snowstorm that closed down the airports in New York and Boston. The assignments were achieved but not quite in the manner we expected.
Our first day involved praying at the Ground Zero Memorial fountains at the World Trade Centre. There is a tremendous sense of grief and loss at the site. We prayed Isaiah 54:11 - 15 “Afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted, I will rebuild you with stones of turquoise, your foundations with lapis lazuli. I will make your battlements of rubies, your gates of sparkling jewels, and all your walls of precious stones. All your children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace. In righteousness you will be established: Tyranny will be far from you; you will have nothing to fear.
Terror will be far removed; it will not come near you. If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing; whoever attacks you will surrender to you.” We went from there to Wall Street, the home of the New York Stock Exchange and also the Trump Towers. Then we went to the Federal Reserve Bank and prayed.
On our second day we began with Time Square where one of the significant proclamations we made in prayer was asking God to release a “revolution of righteousness”. We then headed to Central Park. We were totally unaware of the March for Our Lives Protest being held in the city as well as numerous cities across the nation on Saturday, March 24. When we arrived at the street to cross to enter Central Park it was closed down by the police and the 175,000 protestors. To pray we ended up at a Starbucks on the other side of a roundabout at the entrance to the park. From there we headed to Grand Central Station with hopes to go onto Empire State Building and Madison Square Gardens. The route was completely shut down by the protest and the police were not allowing us to attempt to cross the flow of protestors. Again we found a spot to pray as close as we could to our chosen sites.
Upon returning to our accommodations we heard that the number was confirmed 175,000 and that the mayor of New York, Bill de Blasio, tweeted: “You have to know when a revolution is starting... Today in NYC already 150,000+ have taken to the streets for PEACE”. There is a coming revolution of righteousness for the United States of America.
On Sunday, March 25 we prayed at the Statute of Liberty and then Ellis Island. The day was incredibly cold and the line-ups to get on the boat to the Statute of Liberty were huge. It didn’t matter that we booked an 11:00 am sailing as everyone had to go through security which was aggravatingly slow. We managed to get on a boat leaving at 11:50 for the five-minute journey. The island was chock a block full of people and extremely challenging to find a spot where we could pray. After leaving the Statue of Liberty the boat took us to Ellis Island, which was the entry point for twelve million people, about three-fourths of the migrants who entered the United States between 1892 and 1924. We prayed at the museum on the island for a variety of issues as led by the Holy Spirit.
The three very intense days completed the assignment we felt we had received from the Lord. We are anticipating a “revolution of righteousness” to happen in finance, business, sports and entertainment that will flow out to the rest of the country.
