3 Amazing Provinces
The Worldchangers Canada team prayed in Edmonton, Regina and Winnipeg July 3rd to 16th. It was an amazing trip as it opened our eyes to the depth of connection between the three provinces and the intertwining of their history. Manitoba became a province of Canada in 1870, Alberta and Saskatchewan in 1905. Initially Winnipeg became the main distribution centre for the west and the Fort Garry to Fort Edmonton Trail became a major trade route.
As we pursued the Lord in prayer through each of the provinces we realized there were three themes reoccurring with each one becoming more clearly defined as we went east. The team also prayed for other issues as directed by the Holy Spirit but these three in particular were recurrent in each province. In the blogs for each theme the initial source for them starts in Winnipeg. Therefore each one will start there and work back to Edmonton.
Our heart for these trips is to bless each province with His goodness and grace. In the process we identify with our forefathers on both sides of any issue and seek forgiveness for wrongdoing and a release of the Father’s love, favour and blessing on each city, territory and province. It is far easier to understand the different perspectives held during tenuous situations years later. At the park dedicated to Upper Fort Garry in Winnipeg there is a plague clarifying this phenomenon so that people would not be offended with what they may have been taught or understood to have happened.
Paul in his first letter to Timothy said, ‘I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness”. The actions of people in authority have an effect on the lives of those within their sphere of influence. Their decisions and the response of the people have consequences that can shape the future for generations to come. They may bring a blessing or may leave a perpetual problem. Identification in intercession can bring a change of direction releasing blessing. Scripture is clear that prayer will bring healing and wholeness to people, to their cities and to their land.
