United States Presidential Elections 2020
On October 29, 2020 a team from Worldchangers Canada, consisting of Jim and Bonnie Inkster and Walter and Sharon Fehr, travelled to the United States to pray for the upcoming election on the land. Our initial thought was to pray up to and including November 3. Upon landing Bonnie made a casual comment that maybe we will have to pray through until the inauguration on January 20, 2021.
We took our task very seriously as we landed in Palm Springs, found our accommodations and prayed each day for the election. We were faithfully every morning to pray for the elections and thoroughly enjoyed the rest of our respite time.
We based our prayer thematically on Psalm 94:20 -23. “It’s obvious to all; you will have nothing to do with corrupt rulers who pass laws that empower evil and defeat what is right. For they gang up against the lovers of righteousness and condemn the innocent to death. But I know that all their evil plans will boomerang back onto them. Every plot they hatch will simply seal their own doom. For you, my God, you will destroy them, giving them what they deserve. For you are my true tower of strength, my safe place, my hideout, and my true shelter.” (TPT)
We focused in on corruption, injustice and deception within the political system as well as the media. We prayed that anything unrighteous would be exposed and replaced with righteousness, regardless of party affiliations or media channels. We prayed for truth, clarity, exposure, taking authority over confusion created by fear, uncertainty and doubt. We also prayed for a calm and non-violent election day and then, a peaceful transition and resolution of the results through to the inauguration.
Each day we worshipped the Lord with singing while attentively listening for His direction which we would share with each other when we were finished worshipping. We would then pray into the things we received – words of knowledge, scriptures, prophecies – until we felt it was complete at which point, we would have communion.
After communion, we ended with a declaration over the land as follows:
In Jesus’ name we declare and decree that all who serve in the United States government positions are visited by the righteousness, truth and justice of God, and they live in the fullness of Christ’s wisdom in all they do. We declare and decree that any corruption in government will be exposed and dealt with in wisdom and righteousness in order for the United States to be cleansed.
In Jesus’ name we declare and decree that the education leaders, systems and institutions in the United States are being filled with Kingdom values, wisdom, conviction and truth. We declare this in Jesus’ name. (Thank you, Phil Lambert, for writing this declaration.)
